This is a statement from the incoming council executive on the events at Dutch EUDC 2026.
31st July 2026
The European Universities Debating Championship is a debate competition dedicated to fostering dialogue, critical engagement, and the exchange of ideas between students from diverse backgrounds. The allegations that have been raised regarding one participant at this year’s EUDC are extremely serious, and, if substantiated, represent a profound violation of the values that underpin our community and the Championships. We are actively investigating this matter and have reached out to the organisation that has made these allegations. We have asked them to share with us any and all material that is the basis to these allegations so that we may determine the appropriate course of action.
We strongly regret the distress and concern that these events have caused to participants and people beyond the Championships. We recognise that many people have been deeply affected by the situation that has unfolded, and we take our responsibility to ensure that future Championships are inclusive and safe environments very seriously.
We remain committed to addressing this matter, and all future matters with fairness and integrity.
